Sheri Dunn Berry and Marc McMorris elected to Irvine’s Board of Directors

I am excited to announce two impressive new members of The James Irvine Foundation board. Sheri Dunn Berry and Marc McMorris begin their terms in January 2024 and will bring invaluable personal and professional experience to our work and the Foundation’s singular goal: a California where all low-income workers have the power to advance economically.

Sheri is a nonprofit leader with 30-plus years of experience in policy, programming, and organizational development for  social justice and faith-based organizations and networks. She’s currently on the leadership team of the Wend Collective, overseeing the social impact fund’s investments and partnerships to build the civic capacity of diverse communities in the U.S. Sheri also chairs the board of directors for PolicyLink and served for five years on our Selection Committee for The James Irvine Foundation Leadership Awards.

Marc McMorris is a successful investor and experienced trustee. He’ll bring  insights to our work, from his roles as Co-CEO and Co-Chair of the Investment Committee of Carrick Capital Partners. Marc co-founded the private equity firm to assist companies in navigating growth opportunities and creating long-term value. His civic leadership includes being a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, where he is the Chairman of the University  Endowment and a member of the Executive Committee. He is involved in nonprofits that support student development, including the Helix School for children on the autism spectrum and Scholars for Educational Opportunity.

Marc and Sheri will serve four-year terms, with the opportunity for reelection to two additional terms.

I am deeply grateful that they have agreed to join the Irvine board and bring their wisdom and experience to enrich our work to build a California that truly works for all low-income workers and their families.
