Special Initiatives Officer
Anne Vally was appointed Special Initiatives Officer at Irvine in November 2004. Her role includes responsibility for clusters of grants that cross program lines, particularly those related to the Foundation’s regional priorities in the Central Valley and Inland Empire, investments in community foundations across the state, and special opportunities. Anne previously served the Foundation as Special Assistant to the President from 2000 to 2004. Prior to joining Irvine, she was Executive Assistant to the Managing Partner of VantagePoint Venture Partners, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm with $2.5 billion of assets under management. Previously, she lived in London and worked as personal assistant to Tony Stone, founder of the visual content company Tony Stone Images (now Getty Images). Anne has authored two novels, published under her maiden name of Fisher: The Legend of Tommy Morris (Amber Allen Publishing, 1996), which the Georgia Author of the Year Awards named Best First Novel of 1996, and The Masters of the Spirit (HarperSanFrancisco, 1997).
